Community, Sport & Rec Groups across WA play a valuable role in supporting community members to be active in their community.
Is your group welcoming for all community members?
Did you know?
- One in five community members are affected by a mental illness at some time
in their life. - People with mental illness have poorer physical health than the rest of the
community and are less physically active.
In this session you will:
- Learn more about mental health and how to support people with mental illness to become physically active.
- Explore the concepts of mental health first aid and how to deal with challenging behaviours
- Explore strategies to create a welcoming group where all group members feel safe and supported
- Identify ways to become a walk group champion and lead the way in creating inclusive walk groups
